FCCLA Members Are Runners Up At National STAR Events

Howells FCCLA members Nicolette Dannelly, Jessica Kampschnieder and
Courtney Ruskamp attended the National FCCLA Leadership Meeting in
Orlando, Florida July 12 - 18. "Excellence Electrified" was the
theme for this year's meeting attended by over 5,000 students from
all 50 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
While at the meeting, the Howells students competed in the National
FCCLA STAR Events in the Focus on Children Event. The team placed 2nd
and received a gold medal for their project "Kreative Kids" which highlighted an art project that they did with elementary students. The students also attended sessions of the National Leadership Meeting, visited Sea World, Downtown Disney and other places of interest in Orlando while on the trip. Also attending the meeting was Howells-Dodge FCCLA Adviser Marla Prusa. The students would like to thank all those who made donations to support their participation in the national competition.
