100th Day of SchoolOn Thursday, January 29th, the Kindergarten
class celebrated the 100th Day of School. On this special
day, they were involved with many different activities.
Their first activity was to make necklaces out of 100 Fruit Loops. They had to count out groups of 10 pieces of cereal to string on their necklaces. Each group of 10 was a different color so that they could easily count by 10's to 100.
The next activity was to graph 100 M&M's. Each student got a baggie with 100 candies in and they had to graph to see which color they had the most of. Green was a very popular color this year.
Each student brought in a collection of 100 things that they set out and displayed. They laid these out in 10 rows of 10 to show 100. The other classes came in a looked at what different things were brought. Some of our collections included: buttons, ponytail holders, pennies, 100-piece puzzles, and corn.
The last activity we did involved the entire elementary, K-6. We worked in groups that mixed older students and younger students to make valentines to send to Children's Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha. Many of the students knew a family member or friend that is there or that has been there, so we thought we'd wish them a Happy Valentine's Day. The students really enjoyed working all together on this activity.
