FCCLA Members Win Awards at State Leadership Conference

Emily Chebuhar, Cori Renner, and Janessa Evert Are State Champions

Fifty-two members of the Howells-Dodge FCCLA Chapter attended the State FCCLA Leadership Conference in Lincoln on April 6-7.  Thirty-eight members competed in the State STAR Events and received the following awards:

Interior Design - Courtney Michael, Megan Svitak, Jacie Pokorny - Bronze Medals; Fashion Construction - Nicole Lyday - Bronze Medal; Parliamentary Procedure  - Zac Boysen, Bryan Mejstrik, Tyler Faltys, Dustin Sindelar, Brian Prusa, Clint Belina, Keithen Zrust - 4th Place; Applied Technology - Cassy Cech, Jackie Cech - Sliver Medals; Health and Wellness Sr. - Chelsey Cech, Carmen Pieper, Brittny Sellhorst - Silver Medals; Family Challenges and Issues Sr. - Austin Coufal, Derek Brester - Silver Medals; Focus on Children Sr. - Courtney Ruskamp, Jessica Kampschnieder, Nikki Dannelly - Silver Medals; Chapter Showcase - Healther Kampschnieder, Carly Hegemann - Silver Medals; Chapter Project - Chelsea Krepel, Marissa Litty - Silver Medals; Life Event Planning - Megan Chebuhar, Brenna Wragge - Silver Medals; Health and Wellness Jr.- Brian Bayer, Eric Coufal, Mitch Belina - Silver Medals; Career Investigation - Adam Vogel - Silver Medal; Consumer Issues Jr. - Cody Sellhorst - Gold Medal; Focus on Children Jr. - Amber Burenheider, Kaitlyn Janata - Gold Medal; Entrepreneurship - Emily Chebuhar, Janessa Evert, Cori Renner - Gold Medals and State Champions.  Emily, Janessa and Cori will represent Nebraska at the National STAR Events in Nashville, TN in July.

State Power of One Award Winners were:  Mindi Schlautman, Tara Hegemann, Sara Dostal, Dianna Dostal, Tiffany Brester, Nicole Bayer, Jessica Bartling, Sidney Blum, Derek Coufal, Brook Brester, Katee Rocheford, Ashley Bazata, Dillon Dostal, Sam Schlautman and Tyler Brester.

The Howells-Dodge Chapter won the Gold Star Chapter Award and was the District 5 winner of the Operation Rainbow project.

Chapter members attended sessions and enjoyed listening to keynote speaker Justin Boudreau's address, "Be YOUnique."  The students were accompanied by Marla Prusa, chapter adviser who serves on the Nebraska FCCLA Board of Directors and is a State Families First Team adviser, and Rhonda Bartling, parent sponsor.
