Howells-Clarkson FCCLA Meets January 10

The Howells-Clarkson FCCLA Chapter met on Tuesday, January 10 at 8:00 p.m. at Howells High School. The meeting began with the opening ceremony. Howells President Kaitlyn Janata called the meeting to order. Correspondence was read. The minutes of the December meeting were presented by Trent Mastny, Howells Secretary. Mitch Belina gave the Howells treasurer's report.
Old business included thanking the sophomores for providing food for the Christmas Party, and recognizing those members who helped answer letters to Santa, who bagged fruit and candy for adopted grandparents and who worked at the concession stands for the Dodge and Scribner-Snyder basketball games.
Seniors were reminded that FCCLA scholarships are due in Lincoln by Jan. 26. Forms are available at www.nebraskafccla.org. Power of One project forms are available and are due later in February. 200 pairs of shoes were delivered to Village Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon, IA for Soles4Souls on December 30.
The District 5 FCCLA STAR Events will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 25 here in Howells. Event schedules were handed out and members were reminded to dress up for the contest and to bring a sack lunch or money for lunch. The FCS room will be open for STAR Event work before and after school, evenings, and weekends before the contest.
The State Peer Education Meeting will be held in Kearney on Monday Feb. 27. Members interested in attending should sign up by Feb. 3.
FCCLA Week is February 13-17. This year's theme is "FCCLA...Raising the Bar". Activities for the week were planned. The meeting was adjourned by the president. Door prize winners were Emily Brichacek, Casey Smith, Tiffany Sabey and Seth Novak. Lunch was served by the Howells freshmen.
